Spyker Cars announced the development of a convertible Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder in March 2009 at the Geneva Auto Show, during the introduction of the production version of the Spyker C8 Aileron. The car presented at the 59th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in is the first prototype for the open-top model, scheduled to go into production in the first half of 2010. Two custom-made Spyker C8 Spyders have been entered in the supercar classic, coast-to-coast USA Bullrun Rally. Spyker CEO, Victor Muller, will drive the Spyker C8 Spyder with entry number 085. Carl Lewis, Olympic legend and car nut, will be behind the wheel as driver of the Spyker C8 Spyder with entry number 086. Both Spykers will be outfitted as Spyker Squadron?™s race cars which compete in, for instance, the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans. Co-drivers will change...

Geneva, Switzerland, 28 February 2006, His Excellency Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, CEO Mubadala Development Company and Victor Muller, CEO Spyker Cars, today unveiled the Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris at the 76th Salon International de l’Auto in Geneva. The C8 Aileron continues Spyker’s signature architecture (applied since its inception in 2000 with the C8 Spyder) of a mid-engined configuration in an aluminium space frame, clad in aluminium body panels. The Aileron’s space frame is a development of the original space frame of the first generation cars: its torsional rigidity, however, was improved by 40% without adding any weight. Its dimension have changed though, the wheelbase increasing by 10 cm /...

At the age of 18 I acquired my first Zagato bodied car: a Lancia Flavia Zagato rally car in dire need of restoration. Ever since that date, some 30 years ago, I have been in love with the unique and distinctive designs penned by this noble design house. Many Zagato bodied cars have followed the Lancia Flavia and I am proud to still have a number of Zagatos in my collection. The co-operation and partnership between Spyker and Zagato is entirely logical...

The Spyker C8 Spyder is an exotic high-performance Dutch super car. The C8 Spyder is hand-made convertible sports car that seats two. The company has roots in building aircraft and this styling is reflected in the cars design. It has an aluminum body and a 4.2-liter 400-horsepower V8 from Audi. It is controlled by a six-speed manual transmission. It weighs a mere 2,750lbs that allows it an incredible power to weight ratio.
