With Citroen taking out the 2003 Manufacturerse Championship and Sebastien Loeb finishing second in the Driverse Championship, expectations were high for the Citroen Xsara in Monte Carlo, the first race of the 2004 season. One of the most difficult races on the WRC circuit, race conditions for 2004 were tougher than usual with a mixture of snow, ice and dry tracks. Sporting the French tricolors of red, white and blue, Loeb steered his Citroen Xsara to perfection leading from the beginning to take out his second consecutive victory at Monte Carlo. Loeb has followed up this impressive start with subsequent victories in Sweden, Cyprus and Turkey to lead the Driverse Championship and send Citroen to the top of the Manufacturerse Championship.
